Cities and municipalities have implemented sustainable development more than any other actor or stakeholder. This continuing work is long lasting and many obstacles need to be solved, decisions need to be taken and people need to be convinced. This challenge is tough and the work needs resources, skills, understanding, good communication and commitment. A focus on the organisation is needed in order to take the sustainable development process to the next level.

The SUSTAINMENT(2006-2007) aimed to meet the needs and challenges for cities in their work towards a more integrated sustainability process. Our task was ambitious but we were determined to take it and we have decided even to continue.
